Use large image as particle color

I’m trying to texture a grid of particles with and image that is the same size as the grid. I tried a field but it make the particles the same color.
What I’m getting.

If you’re trying to project the Texture over these particles, then its not possible , what you can do is to sample the particle colors from an image, you can load a preset ‘Maps’ (you can search for it, browse under Model / Misc) and see a sample setup
